Be A New Creature
Unfortunately I speak for most women with children when I say we have been counted out for the mere fact that we have a family. Getting a job these days when you have a family is almost impossible. I can imagine the hardships of the single mother on a day to day basis because I myself was a single mother for a time before I was married. However I was taken care of with assistance and paying bills with it just to stay home with my infant-toddler at that time.
When I say we have been counted out, an example of what I mean is asking for a job so specific as to fit your children's lives into your time for your career.
My daughter goes to school from 8:30-3pm which would imply that whatever job I get would also have to be part-time, in the mornings, and I absolutely must get off at 2:30. My husband works nights and I'm not about to let my 6 month old son, and 3 year old daughter spend the night at someone else's house while me and husband work nights. I don't know about you but I'm not about to do that or have my preschooler in school all day and then afterschool. There is nothing wrong with this, and I remember going to afterschool at 4 yrs old myself. I had some advantages that my daughter unfortunately will never experience though. In afterschool back in Far Rockaway NY at Sheldon Weaver Daycare Center our program had full supper with desert provided as well as guaranteed homework help when I was Unfortunately I didn't appreciate it until I moved to GA and saw nothing like it. Kids begging for help with their homework, no supper. I would be a fool to let my children go to an afterschool where she is starving and not able to get help with her work. So I'd rather work part-time and bring my children home to supper after school.
When you apply for a job with these preferences. They tell you that you are not flexible, when really they are not flexible enough to accommodate you. Being a mom is a full time job. You have to make things work around that. So when you are a family oriented, career focused individual like I am it creates a conflict of interest.
So here is what I've done to solve my problem. I have been making and selling jewelry since I was 11 years old. I remember praying at that age that if God would allow me to use my hands to create and to make money then I would gladly be a stay at home mom. Some things in life prevented the preparation phase prior to having children but it's never too late for redemption and restoration.
I'm in my season of restoration and I'm taking it by the horns. I'm like a wild cat, because I was born to hunt! Nobody disqualifies lionesses from hunting game when they have cubs. Why should I be disqualified? I've had one too many people tell me what I can't do because I have a family, and they won't see how silly they sounded until I raise up. I've been an Entrepreneur all my life. It's time to apply my determined spirit with a strategy to obtain wealth. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 8:18 “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee POWER to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy father's, as it is this day."
In short it's time out for feeling bad about not having a job and not being given a chance by employers. Maybe it's time to stop thinking like a mere employee if you are really a CEO, and Founder of a fortune 500 company that hasn't been birthed yet. The reason it hasn't been birthed yet is because people keep aborting your baby before it even has a chance to grow and come forth. Stop treating your life vision like a democracy that everybody can cast a vote on. (Yeah I said that in light of the election!) I'm a Republican when it comes to the abortion of dreams. Anti-choice!!! Your business is not everybody's business! So I'm speaking to the entrepreneur readers and the regular career focused people who seek employment. Don't doubt the vision God gave you. Bring it forth in due season, and if you feel lead to tell someone about it make sure it's someone you can trust.
Let me stress the fact that I'm not putting down being an employee at all, but in this day in age it's time out for sulking about how there aren't enough jobs. Have you said that a bill collector? Did it reduce your debt? Let's build businesses together, Let's put them in our local communities. Let's find our own voices instead of letting people tell us how to sing, and let's write our own songs.
In closing I'd like to say being an Entrepreneur isn't easy but it's worth it if you know what your nitch is and you know how to operate in your assignment.
Know that clocking in to a 9-5pm doesn't make your job real. Working in your assignment makes it real. That's why some people who do have jobs hate their jobs. They aren't in their assignment so it's just regular, and it pays the bills. I'd even go as far to say if that is you and you aren't an Entrepreneur, consider some of the things you love and try a career change even if it takes a little time to attain. The bottom line is that walking in your purpose and staying true to yourself is way easier. There is nothing wrong with being yourself. It's only one you and only you can be that. So the name of my business is Kana Wear LLC. I make and sell jewelry, and other neat accessories as well. I coined the phrase “Be a new creature," because the Bible says if any man be in Christ he is a new creature. That the old has passed away and the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17). My logo is a butterfly because it's symbolic of transformation and growth. This will never change, and I'll admit I'm not trying to be politically correct when it comes to my business. That scripture isn't going anywhere and if people have a problem with it they don't have to shop with me. My goal is for people to wear my work and be made new. Not just because my product is awesome but because I want them to feel confident on the inside enough to wear something beautiful on the outside. Accessories and fashion don't make a person. The person makes fashion because an outfit without a person to wear it just clothes. So always remember to walk in your purpose. Be a new creature.
